In the process ‘Builder’, within each step you will see a deadlines tab.

Step builder - Deadlines tab

You can set two types of deadlines: 1) Standard deadlines 2) Dynamic deadlines

Standard deadlines of steps are in relation to start of the run or in relation to another step deadline at the start of the run.

For example:

There are two steps in this sales process,

Step 1’s standard deadline is set 1 hour from ‘start  run’ (the time and date the run starts), it’s deadline will be 1 hour from now,

Step 2 needs to be done within 1 hour of  step 1’s deadline. This is how you would set the standard deadline,

When a run is started, these are the deadline for step 1 is 1 hour, and deadline for step 2 is 2 hours,

Dynamic deadlines of steps are in relation to the moment specific steps are marked as done. Tags are used to point to steps whose deadlines should change.

For example:

I want to make sure that in the process below, that as soon as the Step 6 (Event is booked), Step 7 is done within 30 minutes (invoice is to the client),Screen Shot 2016-06-24 at 18.00.14

This is how we set that up,

  1. Tag Step 7 (Send invoice to Client) with a special tag via the Basic tab. In this case, I tag it as ‘Booked’.
  2. Create a Dynamic deadline in Step 6 (Book event on calendar), as this is the step you want to decide that dynamically changes the deadline of another step, when marked as done. Simply add  the tag of the step whose deadline you want to change and the new deadline.
  3. Click on ‘Add Rule’. This dynamic deadline rule is now saved.Screen Shot 2016-06-24 at 18.04.27

When you start a run, when Step 6 is marked as done, it changes the deadline of Step 7 to be 30 minutes,
